1970 AMC Gremlin
AMC created the Gremlin for a unique automobile sold for two-thirds the price of competing smaller cars, appropriate for its smaller appearance. Though this car wouldn’t be considered a winner of a beauty contest, it won the popularity contest on the road from 1970 to1978.
1976 AMC Pacer
Following the success of the Gremlin, AMC doubled down on releasing a smaller model that stayed true to the ugly car esthetic with the 1976 Pacer. The Pacer was branded as the first small car with a wider body making more room for passengers and became famous after being featured as the Garth Mobile in the comedy movie “Wayne’s World.”
1981 Maserati Biturbo
Maserati has built a reputation for creating luxury supercars with the modern model known for its elegant style, but its predecessors weren’t so lucky. Maserati released the Biturbo in 1981 that looks like a bulky sedan that happens to feature the Maserati trident logo.
1993 Chevrolet Camaro
The Camaro is an iconic model by Chevrolet that is still in production as a sleek sports car with humble beginnings as a muscle car with the first 1967 model. As time passed, the body style of the Camaro transformed from a muscle car into an unremarkable fourth-generation sedan by 1993 until the fifth generation during the 2010s re-branded as a sleek sports car.
